4 lbs. fresh apricots (weigh whole)
6 cups white sugar

Preheat oven to 250. Cut apricots into small pieces, saving about 12 stones. Put prepared fruit in heavy sauce pan. Cover and heat very slowly until fruit is soft. Stir often. Measure sugar into roasting pan. Heat in preheated oven, stirring occasionally. Crack shells of stones and remove kernels. Cover kernels with boiling water and let stand until skins slip off. Cut kernels in lengthwise slivers. Add warned sugar and kernels to the cooked fruit. Boil gently, stirring constantly 20 minutes. Ladle into jars.
