2 cups stale bread cubes, packed down
4 cups milk (scalded)
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp butter
¼ tsp salt
Whiskey Sauce: 1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp butter
2 oz Bourbon

Directions:
Directions:
Soak bread in milk 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into 1-1/2 quart baking dish. Bake in pan of hot water for one hour at 350°. French bread is best. Sauce: Cook the sugar, water and butter until dissolved. Remove from heat and add bourbon. Serve over warm bread pudding
