1/3 c. water
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/3 c. corn syrup
2 egg whites, beaten stiff
1 tb. vanilla
1 salt spoon or 1/2 a teaspoon of cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cook sugar, corn syrup and water until syrup will spin a long thread when dropped from the tines of a silver fork or a skewer.
2. Remove from the heat.
3. Have ready the stiffly whipped egg-whites with cream of tartar.
4. Pour hot syrup slowly in a fine stream onto the egg-whites, while beating constantly.
5. Add vanilla and beat until the mixture is almost cold and is creamy to taste - it will hold its shape when poured or spread onto the cooled cake.
