1 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. almond extract
4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter and sugar until creamy. Add flavoring. Beat eggs, preserving one of the whites for topping, and add to first mixture. Add flour, baking powder and salt which have been sifted together (more flour may be needed).
Beat remaining egg white with 1 T. cold water. Take part of the dough, roll out on a floured board, cut in rounds and press 1/4 almond on top of each cookie. Brush with egg white and bake in a 325º oven until golden brown. You may cut the dough into any shape for holiday cookies and decorate with colored sugar.
