1 (8 ounce) package Creamette Manicotti, uncooked
SAUCE
3/4 pound ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, cup up (undrained)
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon basil leaves
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon pepper
FILLING
3/4 pound ground beef
1 (16 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1 egg, beaten
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup sliced green onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teapoon parsley flakes

Prepare Manicotti according to package directions; drain. For sauce: In large skillet, combine ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook until beef is browned; drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, parsley flakes, basil, brown sugar, oregano and pepper. Simmer 15 to 20 minutes. For filling: In medium skillet, cook ground beef until browned; drain. In medium bowl, blend ricotta and egg. Stir in beef, mozzarella, green onions, salt and parsley flakes. Pour one-half the sauce into a 13X9 inch baking dish. Fill manicotti evenly with ricotta mixture and place in baking dish. Top with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover. Bake in a 350 degree oven until hot, 30 - 40 minutes.
