2 c. flour
1/2 tsp.salt
1 c. oil
1 tsp.vanilla
1 c. fig preserves
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp.soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt, soda and sugar. Add oil and egg; slowly add buttermilk, figs and nuts and blend well. Add vanilla. Bake in greased and floured tube pan or large sheet pan @ 350º for 40 minutes. Top with sauce below.

Sauce for Fig Cake

1 stick margarine
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp.soda
1 T. corn syrup
1 tsp.vanilla

Mix ingredients in order listed and boil 3 minutes. Spread on cake while warm.
