6 egg whites
2 c. sugar, divided
1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar
3-4 c. sliced strawberries
2 c. whipped cream and/or topping

Directions:
Beat egg whites until they hold a point, gradually beat in the sugar [a little at a time], alternating with the lemon juice. Beat meringue until stiff and glossy.

Place brown paper bag (grocery bag is fine) on a cookie sheet and draw an 8' circle or heart. Spoon the meringue into the shape on the bag. Bake @ 275º for 1 hour or until it looks dry. Cut off the heat and let the meringue stay in oven a couple of hours. Then remove from oven and cool. When cool, fill the meringue with whipped cream and top with fresh sliced strawberries or any fruit that your prefer.
