Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter - softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups minute oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla (real stuff no imitation)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix (batter will be very stiff) by hand. Then roll into little balls (about the size of a small walnut). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet some distance apart because they spread out when they cook. Cook at 350º for about 10 minutes - no longer. Let them cool before you take them off the cookie sheet - they will come apart if you don't let them cool!
NOTE: With our Kitchen Aid mixers - hand mixing isn't necessary but Aunt Ruby didn't know about them.....
