Old Fashioned Oats
milk
brown sugar
vanilla extract
cinnamon
butter
salt
raisins
(almond extract opt.)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix water and milk, bring to a slow boil and add oats. Add brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, butter, salt, almond extract and raisins. Stir constantly over a simmer until thickened. Serve topped with cinnamon and more milk if desired. I like to add almond extract too, it makes a nice addition.

My Dad was never without a home cooked meal in our house. Even though he really didn't do the cooking, he knew how things should taste.
Dad's contribution to our kitchen was making homemade oatmeal, which tasted like a dessert, and the best pancakes. We always looked forward to "Breakfast for Dinner" night.
