5 c sugar
2 c water
1 tbsp ascorbic acid
1/2 c water
1/2 c lemon juice
2 tbsp almond extract
2 tbsp vanilla extract
2 qts ginger ale
crushed ice

Directions:
Directions:
Make a syrup by mixing 5 c sugar and 2 c water in saucepan and cook until sugar is dissolved. Cool. Dissolve ascorbic acid in 1/2 c water and add to syrup together with lemon juice and extracts. Store covered in refrigerator. When ready to serve, combine 1 c syrup mixture and 2 qts ginger ale. Serve over crushed ice.

Ascorbic acid may be purchased at most health food stores. Fruit Fresh may be used instead.
