garlic
olive oil

Directions:
Cook the pasta and reserve some of the water for the soup.
Clean and boil the string beans half way done, drain and set aside. In a soup pot heat oil and saute the garlic until tender. Add beans until garlicky and coated, add crushed tomato, salt and pepper and cook about 20 min. Add the spaghetti and water so it's soupy. Serve with olive oil drizzled on top and Grandpa's favorite... crushed black pepper.

Personal Notes:
Maria Letizia Colletti (1917-2004) My grandmother
Nonna was the heart of the home. She was always in the kitchen and made sure no one ever went hungry. She was present in everyone's kitchen, if not cooking, then being the taster. I can still smell the smells of her kitchen and visualize her old dishes and pots. I think she wore her apron from morning, until the dishes were done in the evening. I love her and miss her very much. I know she's in my kitchen still.
Mangia, Mangia!
