Ingredients:
Raw garlic cloves
olive oil
salt and pepper
grated parmesan cheese
anchovies drained
Italian crusty bread

Directions:
Directions:
Mash the garlic cloves with the back of a spoon and peel the skin off. Grandpa didn't use a knife, but he mashed the heck out of the garlic with the back of a fork. Put the garlic in a dish and pour in lots of olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and mash in 1-2 anchovies.
Coat slices of Italian bread with the mixture and sprinkle on the cheese. Can be toasted, but Grandpa ate it raw.

Grandpa was always in the kitchen. Although Nonna was the head cook, he was there to supervise and taste.
