Baked Soy Onions Recipe

1 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. soy sauce
1 T. dry sherry
6 thin pats butter or margarine
6 medium onions

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1st five ingredients & set aside to dissolve as you prepare the onions.
Peel whole onions & slice off about 1/2 inch of bottom. Without cutting all the way though, make 8 evenly spaced cuts down and almost through the onion.(You can put wooden spoons on either side as a spacer to help keep you from cutting all the way through the onion.)
Place each onion on a square of foil big enough to entirely wrap the onion. Drizzle about 2 tsp. soy mixture over each onion and top with a small pat of butter. Bring foil up and crimp.
Place wrapped onions in baking dish and bake 350 degrees about 45 min.
