1/2 C butter
1/2 C shortening
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2/14 C flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt

1/4 C butter
2 C powdered sugar (or until it is the right consistency)
1 egg
food coloring as desired.

1. Cream fats and sugars.
2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
3. Sift dry ingredients and add.

Form into a giant heart shape on a large cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.

Let cool, and frost.

This was given to me by my good friend, Claudia Hawkins. When our kids were young, and our husbands worked together, we were dear friends. She is a wonderful cook, and this delectable recipe is just one of zillions of good ones from her kitchen.
