1½ cups sugar
½ cup water
½ stick butter
3 drops of any desired flavoring (peppermint for me, but may use wintergreen, etc.)
Food coloring, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients in a pan and heat without stirring until candy thermometer reaches 280°. Pour at once onto a marble slab and add 3 drops of desired flavoring and coloring. As soon as it is cool enough to handle, begin to pull and twist. Pull until it begins to grow sugary. Put back on slab and cut with scissors into bit sized pieces. Store in air tight tin.

This is a wonderful. creamy candy recipe that was given to mother by Mrs. Turner, the mother of one of my school friends in North Augusta.
