1 cup Mother’s Oat Meal
1 stick Oleo (or ½ cup shortening)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 whole eggs
1 1/3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
½ cup chopped nuts
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. baking powder
Topping:
3 T melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 T pet cream (call Karen)
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Pour 1 1/3 cups boiling water over 1 cup oatmeal, cool 20 minutes.
Par boil ¾ cup raisins, drain and cool.
Cream together the Oleo and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Bake in a well greased pan at 350° for 40 minutes.
Topping:
Mix topping ingredients well and add flake coconut. Spread over cake while it is still hot. Return cake to oven under broiler and leave for 10 minutes. Let it get as brown as you like, it will bubble and needs to be turned often.
