2 cups self-rising white cornmeal
1 cup self-rising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 small bell pepper, finely chopped (or jalapeņo)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 large egg
1 tsp salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. black kpepper
3/4 cup buttermilk

vegetable oil for frying

Combine all ingredients except oil. Mix well and drop by teaspoonfuls into medium-hot oil. When bottom turns golden brown, turn and brown other side.
