Notes: The story of this cake and frosting was told to me by my mother, Esther Fryback, from whom I got the recipe. A lady was in the tea room of Nieman Marcus and ordered a slice of this delicious cake. She asked the waitress for the recipe, which she was given. Several weeks later, she received a bill from the Chef requesting $100 for the recipe. This upset the lady so much she was determined to share the recipe with everyone she knew. That is how my mother ended up with this delicious cake! In the late 40's and early 50's, $100 was a LOT of money.
