Sweet onions (to make at least 3 layers)
Brown sugar
Day old bread cubes
Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Butter a casserole dish. Layer peeled and slice apple then sliced onion with the rings separated, sprinkle brown sugar over each layer. Top it off with cubed bread, (use day old) and lot of pats of butters. Be sure to put 4 or 5 layers as there is shrinkage with the slow baking at 325° for 2 - 2½ hours. Uncover the last ½ hour so crumbs will brown. I melt the butter and drizzle over bread cubes.
