4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. melted shortening
1 1/3 cup warm water or milk

Mix ingredients adding more liquid to make workable dough. Knead dough or use breadmaker to knead for 15 min. Pinch of golf ball size pieces of dough with floured hands. Cover and let rest for 20 min. Roll into flat thin disc on lightly floured surface. Cook on hot griddle or pan for 30 seconds, flip - cook other side until light brown spots appear. Flip once more to first side for 15 seconds. Store in Ziploc bag in refrig.

My hispanic friends have helped me over the years to learn the art of tortilla making. There isn't anything like a fresh hot tortilla, unless it is the tortillas sold in grocery stores that come uncooked and you cook them at home! They are a close second to these!
