1 c shortening
2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 c applesauce
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
3¼ c flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
2½ c rolled oats
2 c raisins
2 c chopped nuts

Directions:

Combine sugar, shortening and eggs and blend. Add applesauce. Measure dry ingredients together. Mix together and add remaining ingredients. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes or until brown.

Mom notes the “kids love and this makes loads”.
I would argue the accuracy of that statement, being one of the "kids". They were good, but at that point in my life, nothing touched chocolate chip cookies.....
