1 c margarine
½ c shortening
¼ c cocoa
1 c water
2 c flour, sifted
2 c sugar
½ c buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla


Icing:
½ c butter
¼ c cocoa
6 Tbsp milk
1 lb powdered sugar
Nuts and vanilla to taste

Directions:

Mix butter, shortening, cocoa and water in small saucepan and bring to a boil. Dump flour and sugar in a large bowl, and pour hot mixture over the top. Then mix in remaining ingredients. Bake in jellyroll pan for 20 minutes at 400°. While it bakes, prepare icing to be added as soon as cake comes out of the oven. To prepare the icing, bring butter, cocoa and milk to a boil in medium saucepan. Remove from heat and beat in sugar, nuts and vanilla.

Initially, I thought this was the Texas Sheetcake recipe. It is similar, but not the same, and Mom saw fit to keep it in her recipe file.
