2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 cups chopped, pitted dates
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, milk, buteer. Cook slowly in skillet, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Boil slowly to 240º or when small amount dropped into cold water forms a semi-firm ball. Remove from heat. Add dates and nuts, stirring until mixture thickens. Form into 2 rolls, 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Wrap in damp cloth, chill until firm. Slice 1/4 inch thick and serve.

One of my favorite memories as a child was helping my mother, Bonnie Dunn, make Christmas candies. Date Nut Roll was one of the first candies we made in December every year!
