Apple sauce
Spatz Bread, buttered
1 cup powdered sugar
2-5 T butter
1 t vanilla
1/8 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cover the bottom of an oven-proof dish with the apple sauce about 1 1/2 inch deep. Remove the crusts from the Spatz bread and cut each slice in thirds. Cover the apple sauce with the bread. Cook in a 350 degree oven until the apple sauce is hot and the bread is toasted and lightly brown.
Mix the rest of the ingredients together until smooth. Chill.
Serve with a dollup of hard sauce.

Mother made this and everybody loved it. Everybody still does. The amount depends on how many you want to serve. You can make your own apple sauce or buy it. Works both ways. Enjoy!
