Ice water
2 tablespoons powdered alum
1 gallon sour pickles cut in 1" rounds
5 pounds sugar minus 1 cup
8 cloves garlic
1 - 1 1/2 oz. can pickling spice
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup tarragon vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Soak pickles in iced water and alum for 2w hours. Make sure the water mixture covers the pickles. Drain off water and rinse pickles. Layer sugar, pickles, garlic and spices. Pour vinegar over this mixxture. Store in large bowl in rigrigerator for 36 hours, stirring occasionally. Put in sterile jars and sea. Makes 8 pints.

Taste like the pickle at Mantias.
