3 tablespoons olive oil
3 teaspoons chopped garlic
7 to 8 medium onions, chopped fine
1 bunch flat leaf parsley chopped
2 Tablespoons salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
6 beef bouillon cubes
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 - 15 oz. can tomato sauce + 4 cans water
3 - 12 oz. cans tomato paste + 6 cans water
3 - pounds ground round (DO NOT SUBSTITUTE)

Saute onions, garlic and parsley in olive oil until tender, do not brown. Add ground round, salt, pepper, cheese and beef cubes. Cook and stir until beef is browned. DO NOT DRAIN. Add tomato sauce, paste, and water. (Add water by cans and stir after each.) Bring to a good simmer. Cook on low heat 6 hours uncovered or until thick.

The salt measurement is correct. And never substitute ground beef or chuck for the ground round as you do not drain off the fat. I chop the onions in the food processor and many times use the prechopped garlic in a jar. I just make sure that it is fresh. I also don't use the Kraft Green Can Parmesan but don't use the really expensive stuff either.
