2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs seperated (beat whites until stiff)
3 tablespoons butternut flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter and sugar. Mix soda, salt, and buttermilk until foamy. Alternate buttermilk mixture and flour stirring after each addition. Add flavoring and egg yolks one at a time mixing after each egg. fold in egg whites gently. Pour into cake pans and bake 1 hour or until done.
