3 lbs hamburger
1 green pepper, diced
1 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1 1/2 tbsp vinegar (any kind)
1/2 of a medium bottle of ketchup
2 cans (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 tbsp minced onions

Brown hamburger and drain off all grease. Add all remaining ingredients and simmer for at least 2-3 hours on low.

The secret is to let it simmer as long as you can, stirring occasionally. Serve on hamburger buns.

This recipe was one we had often. My father refused to let us call it sloppy joes, to him it was barbecued hamburger! But no matter what you call it, it sure tastes good.
