8 oz. dried black eyed peas, washed and picked
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1 bell pepper chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 cup diced ham
3 cups chicken broth
2 cups V8 or tomato juice
1 bay leaf

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot combine chopped pepper, celery, and onion. Add dried peas, ham, chicken stock, V8, bayleaf and spices. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer covered one hour or until peas are tender. Remove bay leaf and serve hot. Serve with a scoop of rice and a dollop of sour cream.
