1 c rye flour
1 c cornmeal
1 c whole wheat flour
1/2 t soda
1 t salt
3/4 c molasses
1 1/2 c buttermilk
4 t baking powder
1 c nuts
1 c raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Add molasses and milk and blend well. Fill 3 well-greased molds 2/3 full. Cover molds tightly with foil. Place on trivet in container of boiling water. Water should come up to 2/3 on the molds. Keep water boiling and steam for 3 hours. Add water as needed. Remove from boiling water and remove covers. Put in 300º oven for 15 min to dry.

For molds, you can use 1 lb coffee cans or different size metal cans. These may be covered with foil tied down tightly.
