1 pound beef boneless sirloin steak, cut into 3/4 -inch cubes
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sake or dry sherry
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons chopped ginger root or
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon sugar
1 clove garlic, chopped

Directions:
Place beef in glass or plastic bowl. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over beef. Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Set oven control to broil. Remove beef from marinade; reserve marinade. Thread 6 beef cubes on each of five 12-inch metal skewers; brush with marinade. Broil kabobs with tops about 4 inches from heat 5 to 6 minutes or until brown on all sides and desired doneness. Serve with hot cooked rice if desired.
