1 lb. ground beef or stew meat
14 oz canned diced tomatoes
1/3 cup barley
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tsp season salt
1 tsp dry basil
1 medium onion, diced
2 medium carrots, sliced
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 T beef bouillon
1 bay leaf

For hamburger, brown the meat and drain.

For stew meat - brown the meat in olive oil and let simmer with canned tomatoes for 10 minutes, before proceeding.

To the meat add remaining ingredients, plus 5 cups water. Cook for 1 hour.

Mom gave me this recipe years ago and after 3 or 4 sides of beef, I needed something new to do with the stew meat sitting in my freezer. It's really good in this!
