1/2 c sugar
1/2 cup margerine - softened
1 egg
1 c molasses
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t ginger
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t salt
1 c hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margerine and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add hot water last.
Bake in greased and floured 13 by 9 pan at 350º for 30 minutes

This is the only cake I made from "scratch".
Very good served with whipped cream.
