1/4 c (1/2 stick) butter
3/4 c firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 c evaporated milk
2 1/2 c confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
In sauce pan, melt butter; add sugar and milk. Heat until sugar is dissolved; cool slightly. Beat in confectioners sugar and vanilla.

Caramel Frosting was a favorite for many of the cakes we made on the farm. This is a recipe of unknown origin; therefore, I do not know if it is the one we used, but it should work well.
