1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound ground veal
1/2 c wheat germ
2 eggs
1 medium onion
1 clove garlic
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground pepper
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
dash hot
pepper sauce
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp thyme
6 strips bacon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ground meats in large mixing bowl. Stir in wheat germ. Place all other ingredients, except bacon, in electric blender and liquefy. Pour liquid over meat; knead with fingers until well blended. Place 3 strips of bacon in bottom of lightly greased loaf pan. Put meat loaf mixture in pan, patting down. Place 3 strips of bacon lengthwise across the top. Bake at 350º for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours or until meat is cooked through.
