3/4 c shortening
2 eggs - beaten
1 tsp. soda dissolved in 3/4 c sour milk
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 sp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c chopped apples - to be added last.

Bake in deep loaf pan. Eat with whipped cream or ice the cake. Best eaten when warm.

I can imagine how Grandma appreciated The Ruth Lyons' Show when she lived alone after Grandpa died. I can see in my mind Grandma in her favorite chair copying this recipe as Ruth shared it.
