6 green tomatoes
6 tart apples
1/4 lb seedless raisins
1/4 Lb seeded raisins
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/4 c fruit juice
1/4 cider vinegar
1/2 c minced citron
2 Tbsp orange rind
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

Force tomatoes and cored apples through a food chopper.
Add remaining ingredients and cook until thick. Fill into
sterilized jars and seal. Makes about 1 quart.

This comes from Grandma Slater's
"American Women's Cookbook" and the page that
this recipe was on was splattered and looked
well-referred to. The original Mincemeat recipe uses beef
and suet, so I thought that the mock mincemeat recipe
would be more appealing to current readers. This recipe
is usually put into a crust-lined pieplate and baked.
It's served with hard sauce.
