2 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup light molasses
3/4 cup melted butter
3/4 teaspoon ginger
1-1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-1/3 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
1 cup boiling water in a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and add the brown sugar, molasses and melted butter. Mix dry ingredients and sift into the bowl. Now, stir everything together as if you meant it. Pour the boiling water in last and give it another mixing. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes in a greased and floured 9"x 13" pan. Serve with butter or whipped cream, or try a hard sauce.
HARD SAUCE
1/2 to 1 cup confectioners' sugar mixed with 1 cup butter. Add 2 - 3 tablespoons of brandy. Dash of vanilla.
