Ingredients:
No Sunday dinner would be complete without mom's baking powder biscuits.

2 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 c. shortening (butter is best)
1 egg beaten with 1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450°. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in shortening and mix (fingers work best). Add egg mixture and mix well. Put dough onto a floured board and knead for about 1 minute. If mixture is too wet to knead, sprinkle with a little more flour. Roll out mixture about 1/2 inch thick, cut with a cookie cutter dipped with flour, and place on an ungreased baking pan. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
