3 tbsps. boiling water
2 oz. sweet cooking chocolate
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp. magarine
2 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup softasilk cake flour
1/4 cup+2 tbsp. buttermilk
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1 12oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
caramel topping below

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Pour boiling water over chocolate until melted. Grease and flour a 13x9 x2 pan. Beat sugar and margarine until fluffy; beat in egg yolks one at a time; beat in chocolate mixture and vanilla on slow speed. Mix in flour, soda, and salt alternately with buttermilk; beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Beat whites until stiff, fold into batter. Pour into pan. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean. CARAMEL TOPPING: Heat 1/2 cup margarine, 1 pkg- (14oz.) caramels, and 1 can (4oz.) evaporated milk over medium heat until smooth. Spread caramel topping over hot cake. Sprinkle cake with chocolate chips and pecans. Bake 20 minutes longer until chips melt . Cool and serve. Serves: 12 Prep: 20 min.
