Personal Notes:
I always loved visiting Aunt Vera over the holidays for this special treat. She wrapped the individual caramels in waxed paper squares with each end twisted. This took talent. Though I have made this recipe every year of my adult life, my caramels have seldom conformed to the neat wrapping which displays very nicely in a candy bowl. Mine generally spend the holiday season in a Tupperware container in the fridge. But, they are delicious whichever form they decide to take.
