1/2 c margarine
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Combine and add all dry ingredients to mix. Add nuts if desired. Turn out on floured board. Shape dough into 3 10" rolls. Wrap in wax paper and place in freezer for 12 hours. Cut into 3/8" slices, place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350º for 6 to 8 minutes.

These cookies are from a 91 year old grandma. She made these for her husband, he loved them, now she makes for grown kids and grand kids. They take home the dough to use whenever they wish.
