Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 (about 4 lbs) whole cut-up chicken or any chicken pieces
salt
pepper
garlic powder
dried basil
1 (16 oz.) bag frozen regular peas (not baby or petite peas)
red potatoes* (optional, but Gma always adds them)

Directions:
Directions:
Generously season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, garlic powder and basil.
Sear the chicken in oil, until nicely browned, about 3-5 minutes per side. (Grandma uses an electric frying pan, at about 400º).
Add peas and cover, reducing heat to about 250º, and cook until chicken is cooked through.

The peas will brown and release their sugar and caramelize and stick to the chicken.
The best part is the sticky gooey cooked peas that stick to the bottom of the pan.

*Add potatoes, quartered, along with the chicken also browning the potatoes.

Serve with a nice salad and a blush or vodka tonic.

Personal Notes:
Unique and rich in flavor and texture, this dish is one of Grandma's originals. Sticky chicken has been shared for many years with friends of the family, often converting people who hate peas into the some the of vegetable's most fervent supporters.
