2 cups butter
1 cup confectioners sugar (10X)
4½ cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 tsp. pure almond extract
1½ cups finely chopped almonds (toast almonds before chopping)

1-2 cups confectioners sugar for rolling cookies.

Directions:

Cream butter, add 1 cup confectioners sugar and beat well. Add flour and salt. Blend well. Then add flavorings and nuts.
Shape into 2 logs about 12” long and place in waxed paper and chill for 1 hour.
Take out of refrigerator and slice about 3/4” and shape into crescents.
Bake at 350º for 14-17 minutes.
While still warm, roll in confectioners sugar. Makes 10 dozen.

This is an old family recipe. We usually double the recipe because one just doesn't do it with our crowd. These take a little extra time to form into crescents, but they are so good, they melt in your mouth.
