SYRUP
I cup sugar, caramelized (or 1cup brown sugar)
2 ½ c.boiling water
pinch of salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp.butter.
BATTER
½ cup sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 T butter
½ cup milk
1 T cream
1 egg
Pinch of salt
1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Melt sugar over med. heat until melted and a light brown color. Add boiling water, butter, salt and Vanilla. Stir until smooth and pour into a 9 x 13 x 2 in. baking pan. Drop batter by large spoonfuls into the hot syrup. Brown in moderate oven. Serve immediately topped with whipped cream.
