6 apples, pared, cored and sliced
5T plus 2 c. sugar
5t cinnamon
3 c. flour
3t baking powder
1t salt
1 c. salad oil
4 eggs
1/4 c. orange juice
1 T vanilla
1/2 to 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
preheat oven to 375º
Combine peeled apples, 5T sugar, and cinnamon to taste
Sift flour, remaining sugar, baking powder and salt into bowl.
Make a well in the center and pour in oil, eggs, OJ,and vanilla
Beat with a wooden spoon until blended
Spoon 1/3 of the batter into a greased 9 or 10 inch angel food pan. Make a ring of 1/2 the apple mixture drained of excess moisture on top taking care not to have the apple mixture touch the side of the pan,
Spoon another 1/3 of the batter over the apples, make another ring of apple mixture and top with remaining batter.
Bake 1 hr to 1 hr and 15 mins. Test before taking out.
