3 c. hot mashed turnip (1 large turnip)
2 tbsp. butter
2 eggs, beaten
3 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
freshly ground black pepper
freshly grated nutmeg
1 tbsp. melted butter
1/4 c. dry bread crumbs

Directions:

Grease a 1 1/2 qt. casserole with butter. Preheat the oven to 375º (190º C.) Combine turnip, butter and eggs and beat thoroughly. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, pepper, nutmeg and mix until well blended. Turn into prepared casserole. Combine the melted butter and bread crumbs and sprinkle evenly on top. Bake for about 25 min. until lightly browned.
