1-10oz. loaf French or Italian bread w/out seeds
8 large eggs
3c. whole milk
4 tsp. granulated sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1T. vanilla extract
cinnamon (to taste)
2T. salted butter - cut into small pieces
1T. butter to grease 13"x9" pan

The night before...
Use butter to grease pan. Cut bread into 1 in. thick slices and arrange in one layer in pan. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, sugar, salt and vanilla extract. When well mixed, pour over bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. Cover pan with foil and refrigerate 4-36 hours.
To bake: Preheat oven to 350F. Uncover pan. Dot bread with 2T. butter and bake for 45 minutes. Bread will be puffy and lightly browned. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Serves 8.
