1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1 1/3 c. water
3 eggs
3/4 c. margarine, creamed
1 (14oz) pkg. caramels
1/3 c. plus 3 T. evaporated milk
1 (12oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 c. chopped pecans

Directions:

Combine cake mix, water, eggs and margarine. Blend until smooth. Pour half into greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Melt caramels with milk over heat. Pour over cake when it is removed from oven. Do not spread to edges. Sprinkle chocolate pieces over caramel mixture, then nuts. Pour rest of cake batter over cake. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Turtle Cake Frosting
1/2 box powdered sugar
1/2 stick margarine
3 T. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine and heat well. Spread over cooled cake.
