Dough:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 cups flower

Icing:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp almond or vanilla extract
2 Tbls melted butter
Milk

Directions:
Directions:
For dough:
1. Preheat oven to 325º
2. Sift all dry ingredients together.
3. Using an electric mixer, cream shortening and sugar together, mix in eggs.
4. Add vanilla, combine.
5. Add dry ingredients to bowl and mix well.
6. Roll dough to 1/2 in., cut cookies and place on greased baking sheet.
7. Bake 9-10 minutes until soft.
8. Cool on rack.

For icing:
1. Combine sugar, extract and butter.
2. Add milk a tablespoon at a time until icing is at a spreading consistency.
3. May add food coloring if desired.
4. Spread over cookies once cooled.
